I will be in Estes from June 27 - July 2 and was wondering how Flattop Mountain/Hallett Peak are looking snow wise. Hoping to hike to Hallett Peak for the first time but know RMNP got a bit of snow this spring so it may be too early to hike Hallett without mircospikes, etc. I could not find any recent updates. Thanks.

If anybody has first hand experience these last few days, I'd defer to their judgement. However, I expect that once you're above treeline you won't have any major issues with snow. As of two weeks ago, there was enough snow at the Flattop/Odessa trail junction that I wouldn't go any farther without spikes. But it's been quite warm since then, and given another week of hot weather I think you'll be okay without.

Also - if you call the backcountry office, they often send up Rangers to check for snow line and avalanche danger. So they have a unique perspective.
