August, staying in Grand Lake, thinking Baker Mountain, Parika Peak, Lake Verna, Cascade Mountain, and have 1 or 2 more hikes/days after that.

Any input or experience with these?

There used to be folks around here who are quite knowledgable about these places, but they've all disappeared.

Try searching on the names (Parika especiallly). HPH

These hikes are based off of Summittpost.com info and other website info. I also have Lisa Foster's book to reference. Just wanted to see if anyone here has done them.

The West side has some really nice hikes.  Haven't been up Baker Mountain, but hiked to Parika Peak, Lake Verna, Spirit Lake,

Here are a few of my pictures from a few years ago.

Great photos! It has been book marked for later reference. We did Ida last summer and loved it. Lulu City was uneventful. But still liked the west side enough to want to hike it for a week.

I have not done Parika Peak, but have gone to the lake many times, and it is one of my favorites. The peak appears to be pretty straight forward.  Did a day hike to 4th lake years ago, and Lake Verna would be a worthy destination if you didn't want to go past it. Cascade Mountain/Bowen Lake is also a fantastic hike. I did a report on it several years ago...if you search "Bowen Lake from North Supply Creek Trailhead" you should be able to find it (sorry, I never seem to have much luck inserting links!). The photos I posted were not coming up for me unfortunately.

As mentioned above, the vast majority of folks who used to post frequently on this site sadly all seem to have moved on. Hopefully by searching the archives you will be able to find some additional information - the west side is my favorite side of the park!

Hey Piper,

Parika is awesome.

Check out highly detailed trail descriptions and accompanying galleries here:

Take your pick!

We know the park better than most, in fact, the backcountry office often uses our data.

Enjoy and post some pics from the trip!

Also - I saw 2 bull Moose at Spirit Lake this past summer. I love the west side for its long more riparian climbs into the alpine country and often less people.

My best recommendation is Haynach Lakes - never seen bigger lake trout:

Steph, many of the "core" members of RMNPforums still do a lot of keeping in touch on facebook. I check in here often but although I do Rocky quite a bit,  I do not have the best info and I personally don't do much in pictures. Some of us check in and are still members here but everyone is (I Guess) busy with their lives and do the FB thing, to keep in touch, since many of us are still life long friends after meeting on RMNPforums. Thankful Dave (our leader here) still has RMNPforums going here in Pro Trails in spite of being much less active (many original forums folks - that is) ! Anyway I still like checking in here every day!

Thanks Foxfire - I have chosen not to have a FB account (Gasp! I know. And I don't even live under a rock.), so it was always nice to be able to come here for info and photos about RMNP from all those who used to post. But I definitely understand that people are busy!

I have been a member here for a few years and I noticed the traffic picks up in the spring and summer, then dies down.

Thanks for all the info! I love planning the hikes!
