We've been meaning to do that and keep forgetting. I take it that there's a clear trail the rest of the way up Prospect Mtn? HPH
Yes. If I remember correctly there's a even a road leading from the observation deck/snack bar/gift shop
that leads to the actual top of the mountain (about a 5 minute walk as I recall).
I think every mountain should have a snack bar on or near the summit.

There is a tunel under Prospect that carries water from Mary,s Lake to Lake Lake Estes. There also is a road that accesses the towers but is not recomended due to private property concerns. All of Prospect is privately owned, including The Tram property. There is also a road, Curry Drive (about a half mile long) that goes up the back side / south side where a small amount of parking can be had and you can follow a trail on / up to the summit! Google it if need arises!
We use to watch climbers up high on the south side, up from the Zimmerman place we use to rent on Devin Dr. Also once when we were up the Curry Dr. ("road") before many new homes were built we ran into 3 very healthy coyotes around 5:30 ish (last week of Sept.)! Sure they were scouting and planning an excursion down into the residential area below. Surely to look for garbage, pet food and also even pets if they got a chance! Happy Hiking !!! Never did it but thougt of going up there and to east-ish end to watch fireworks in July but did not do so.

Mmm. Three more days, eh? That means you'll be there on Friday. Best of luck with all the centennial stuff.
On the one hand, you're already there, so you don't have to get there. On the other, you're at risk of being drafted for crowd control. Maybe you can hide out in the showers while they're doing the drafting, and then sneak out and enjoy the festivities. HPH
